Introduction

Welcome to Dr Antti (drantti.com), managed by AVR Commerce LLC. We are based in Finland, operating under Finnish law and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). AVR Commerce LLC is the controller of the personal data processed through this website. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and what rights you have.

Data We Collect and Why

Contact form messages

When you send a message through a form on this website (for example on the contact page or the FAQ page), we receive the information you enter, such as your name, email address and message. Form submissions may also be stored in the website’s database. We use this information only to read and reply to your message. Submissions may be checked for spam by Akismet, an anti-spam service provided by Automattic.

Email updates

If you sign up through a form to receive updates by email, we use your email address to send them. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us.

Comments

If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address and your browser user agent string to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by Akismet. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see whether you use it. If you use Gravatar, your profile picture is publicly visible next to your approved comment.

Server, security and technical data

When you visit the website, technical data is processed automatically, such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time of the visit. This data is recorded in server and security logs by our hosting provider and by the security, caching, redirection and spam-protection tools used on this website (such as Wordfence, Jetpack and Akismet). We use it to keep the website secure and working, to block malicious traffic and to fix errors.

Usage statistics

We use statistics tools to understand how the website is used, for example which pages are visited. These tools include Jetpack and Google Site Kit, which connects the website to Google services such as Google Search Console and, where enabled, Google Analytics. These services may process your IP address, device information and information about your visit.

Affiliate links and advertising

Some articles contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an affiliate link, you leave this website, and Amazon or the other retailer may set cookies and collect information about your visit and purchase according to its own privacy policy. We do not receive your name or payment details from these retailers. Some pages may also display advertising, and advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies according to your cookie choices.

Embedded content

Pages on this website may include embedded content from other websites. The contact page includes an embedded Google Maps map. When a page with embedded content loads, the provider (for example Google) may receive your IP address and browser information and may set cookies, in the same way as if you had visited their website directly.

Media

Images published on this website could contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). We do not ask visitors to upload images.

How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To operate, secure and improve the website and its content.
  • To respond to your messages and, if you have signed up, to send you email updates.
  • To understand how the website is used (statistics).
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Consent: for example for non-essential cookies and for email updates you have signed up for. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: for example to keep the website secure, prevent spam, reply to your messages and understand how the website is used.
  • Legal obligations: where we are required by law to process or disclose information.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This website uses the following types of cookies:

  • Necessary and functional cookies: set by WordPress, Jetpack, the security plugin and the cookie consent tool, for example to remember your cookie choices, to keep the website secure and, if you leave a comment, to optionally remember your name, email address and website so you do not have to re-enter them (these comment cookies last one year). Logged-in users of the site also receive login cookies.
  • Statistics cookies: set by statistics tools such as Jetpack and Google services connected through Site Kit, used to understand how the website is used.
  • Third-party cookies: Amazon and other retailers may set cookies when you click an affiliate link; Google may set cookies when the embedded Google Maps map on the contact page loads; advertising partners may set cookies on pages that display advertising.

When you first visit the website, a cookie banner lets you choose which cookies you accept. You can change your choice through the banner or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the website, and only as needed for the purposes described above. These include our web hosting provider; Automattic (WordPress.com, Jetpack, Akismet and Gravatar); Google (Site Kit and Google services, and Google Maps); Amazon (when you click an Amazon affiliate link); and the providers of the plugins and tools used on this website. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.

International Transfers

Some of our service providers, such as Automattic (WordPress.com), Google and Amazon, may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes we collected it for, including any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. In practice:

  • Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any follow-up, and are then deleted.
  • Email addresses for updates are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Approved comments and their metadata may be kept for as long as the comment is published.
  • Server and security logs are kept for limited periods according to the settings of our hosting provider and security tools.
  • Cookies are stored for the periods set by each cookie, unless you delete them earlier.

Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Access: the right to be provided with a copy of your personal data.
  • Rectification: the right to require us to correct any mistakes in your personal data.
  • Erasure: the right to require us to delete your personal data.
  • Restriction: the right to require us to restrict processing of your personal data.
  • Objection: the right to object at any time to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests.
  • Data portability: the right to receive the personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
  • Complaint: the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Finland, this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at https://drantti.com/contact/.
